AI-agent payment authority vs. direct-debit mandates
MandateShield protects delegated AI purchases. It is not SEPA mandate collection, direct-debit processing, electronic signature or bank-payment software.
Published by MandateShield · Updated July 24, 2026SHORT ANSWER
Does MandateShield manage SEPA or ACH debit mandates?
No. In MandateShield, a mandate means the bounded authority a person gives an AI agent to make a purchase. Strict verification evaluates amount, cumulative budgets, currency, merchant, consent and expiry, then creates a short reservation. A trusted gateway consumes that reservation before one payment submission. MandateShield does not collect IBANs, signatures or direct-debit instructions.
MandateShield
Use this side when
- AI software can select a seller, price or final checkout.
- A person delegates bounded purchase authority to an autonomous agent.
- You need a deterministic reserve-and-consume boundary before payment.
Direct-debit mandate software
Use this side when
- A business needs permission to debit a customer's bank account.
- You must capture or retain a SEPA, Bacs or ACH authorization.
- Recurring collection and failed-payment handling are the core workflow.
PRACTICAL ARCHITECTURE
How they work together
They can exist in the same commerce stack but solve different problems. MandateShield verifies and reserves an AI agent's delegated authority, then requires the trusted gateway to consume it once; the direct-debit provider handles the bank mandate and money movement.
